Last Evacuee from St Kilda dies

SETON(1878)_-_(3)_THE_ISLANDS_OF_ST._KILDA_-_LEVENISH,_ST._KILDA,_SOA_AND_BORRERAThe St. Kilda Islands were continuously inhabited with a population less than 180 since at least the Bronze Age, until 1930, when the last of the tenants of the MacLeod chief asked to be evacuated and relocated. The last of the residents, Rachael Johnson, born in 1923 died Thursday. MacLeod sold the island in 1931. Today it is owned by the National Trust for Scotland
