  1. I’m very disappointed on the entry fee of fifteen dollars this year and so, I’ll protest this year by NOT attending this event, some of us cannot afford that kind of money and it’s unfair to people who are on fixed and minimum wage income when we to celebrate and honor our Scottish and Irish heritage, it’s big disgrace on our Celtic ancestors for this bloody outrageous fee, how sad!!

    • Alfred, we’re so sorry you won’t be able to make it this year. In these tough economic times we definitely appreciate the need to to make tough choices on where to spend each dollar.
However, in the festival’s defense. Events like this are very expensive to put on. From renting the space, permitting for parking and food vendors, paying for entertainment, porta-potties, trash pick up, and security…it really adds up. And unfortunately, events that don’t make money, don’t continue. While the gate fee may be higher than you’d like, if think of it as a FULL DAY of entertainment and activities it’s a bargain. Going to the movies costs nearly as much and you only get 2 hours of value for those same dollars. In order to keep cultural events like these games going into the future, organizations need our support. Even if it means paying a little more at the gate, we think it is worth it’s a worthwhile investment in our community. There aren’t many great Scottish/Celtic events left, we wish the Salado festival the best and hope to see you next year.
